Commissioning a new kitchen is a big deal, and one of the biggest investments that you’re likely to make in your home after the structure itself. There’s a lot to consider and it can be quite a process, and it’s our job to make that journey smooth and successful.
We design, build and install bespoke kitchens at Coast Creative, so your kitchen will be a one-off that is made to your exact specifications; both your personal specifications for how it will look and function, and the specifications determined by your home and space.
Whilst no two Coast Creative kitchens are the same, the steps involved in each project are the same and almost always fall in the same order, whether you are undertaking a new-build or renovation works, or simply refurbishing the kitchen itself:
Your home should facilitate the way you aspire to live and enable you to enjoy that life with your kindred spirits. Before embarking on your project, take some time to consider how you live now, how you’d like to live on the other side of this project, and how that might develop in the future. We’d suggest considering the following questions: Do you love to cook, or do you enjoy activities such as baking? Do you entertain a lot? Do you have a young family? Is the property going to be a holiday let? Are you a coffee lover with a morning ritual and you might want a coffee-station in your kitchen? These will help to guide you, and in turn us, to commission and create the kitchen of your dreams.

The earlier on in your project that we can be involved, the better. If yours is a new-build or significant renovation project then we can work with your architect to ensure that design, functionality and project timelines all work cohesively with the project as a whole. Our Design Director Luke is hugely experienced and his specialist knowledge and input in the early stages can have hugely beneficial impacts on the outcome of kitchen project.
A tailored, functional and beautiful kitchen communicates who you are to those who enter it and creates a beautiful home you can be proud of. From the design direction that you haven taken when decorating your home and purchasing furniture, through to the art that you hang on your walls, your personal taste and style will inform this project. Creating a visual moodboard, whether by tearing photos out of interiors magazines or digitally from websites and Instagram or Pinterest, can be really helpful when you have those initial meetings with Luke to discuss desires and design direction.

In our initial meetings you’ll instruct us on your functional and aesthetic goals for the space (see steps 1 & 3 above!) and we’ll take some measurements of the major dimensions of the proposed space and layout. Using this, we can then calculate a guide price range based upon the size of the space, our discussions about what you want, and any budget guidance that you have given us.
If you approve the guide price then Luke gets to work assembling a palette of finishes and materials that are in keeping with your conversations and any moodboarding work already completed by you and/or your interior designer. Over following weeks Luke begins to create the concept in 3D, with regular feedback from you. If any feedback or requests from you is likely to result in a deviation from the guide price this will be clearly communicated.
At this point we issue the first round of 3D renders & accompanying layout drawings. You receive a design document that contains photo-realistic images of your design alongside the technical information that defines the space. We will then quote the project fully giving you a complete picture of all the costs involved that take you to the finished, fitted and signed off kitchen.

Any final tweaks to the layout are made. Materials and finishes are agreed with accompanying samples and any changes to budget can be accommodated. By the end of this stage everyone will know exactly what we are making, how we are making it, and what it is to be made out of! The project is now fully resolved. Final quotes and fitting costs are issued against the production design document. Upon acceptance of the quote we will issue a 50% deposit invoice on 7-day terms.
Your kitchen will now be manufactured in our workshop in North Cornwall, where you are welcome to come and visit to view parts of your kitchen being made. The kitchen will be fully assembled in the workshop so we can check every detail. It is then disassembled, packaged and delivered to site ready to install in line with agreed timelines for your overall project.

The installation start and completion dates will have been agreed well in advance, either with you or with your project manager. We pride ourselves on starting and finishing on time. We’ll deliver your kitchen components to your site, at which point a further 30% of your quote is due. Our own experienced fitters will install your kitchen to the highest standards, with the entire process typically lasting between 3 & 5 weeks.
Once finished we’ll invite you to inspect and sign-off at an on-site handover meeting, and leave you to settle in and start enjoying your new kitchen. After sign-off the final 20% of the quote is invoiced
