There are numerous benefits that bespoke metalwork brings to an interior scheme. It offers you the ability to open up a space due to its structural strength. It adds an aesthetic element as can be coloured to match the interior design. It is lighter and more compact than traditional joinery, often giving a more modern feel to a space.
Fabricated by founding director Dave, the bespoke metalwork we offer is often chosen as a feature by Coast Creative clients. Bespoke metalwork gives you the opportunity to choose custom options for your storage racks and shelving, plus more statement pieces such as staircases and made-to-measure, structural furniture. We pride ourselves on creating components that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional, from thin metal legs and hanging racks to floating shelves and kitchen islands. All of our bespoke metalwork is fabricated in-house in our workshop in Cornwall and can be powder coated to suit the colour scheme of your project, allowing our clients to choose every last detail and never compromise on their vision.
There are so many options that you might not have considered. Discover more about the interior metalwork and fabrication that we offer throughout the home…
We have used metalwork fabrication throughout numerous kitchens. Designed to fit a specific space, we recommend bespoke metalwork for glass hanging racks (either suspended from the ceiling or built into cabinets), kitchen islands, shelving units and bottle racks often found in the pantry or under a worktop.
We specialise in bigger units such as the kitchen island we created for Little Dillow in Cornwall. We achieved a sleek finish by fabricating steel rod to make light weight supports at the end of the island instead of using bulky wooden legs or panels.
Within the bathroom we use metalwork for custom shelving and the structural elements of vanity units. These are made from steel with the option to then be powder coated to the RAL tone colour that matches the scheme, with over 200 to choose from.
Our team created unique open wardrobes for the St Moritz villas at Daymer Bay, Cornwall, that were entirely bespoke to the renovation. Within walk-in closets we can include bespoke hanging rails for clothes, which can be thinner profile than standard, fitted shelves and shoe racks. We also utilise bespoke metalwork in bedrooms in the form of extra storage and shelving.
Metalwork and fabrication can be used in any living space to add custom storage and shelving, plus as a component for bespoke furniture such as chairs and tables. All our metalwork is made from solid steel and available in over 200 colours. At Noordhoek in Porthcothan, Cornwall, we fabricated a giant room divider within the lounge to split the space. This steel subframe was structurally strong and functional, yet also added a talking-point that was carefully considered. Within the divider was a bookshelf, log store and a fire place.
Other special projects we’ve completed include a one of a kind staircase at Keynvor, Mawgan Porth, which consisted of a steel subframe and oak veneer steps, and a unique and eye-catching balustrade at Avalen, also in Cornwall. The striking staircase and balustrade at Avalen utilised all of the skills that we have in-house at Coast Creative and serves as an introduction and centerpiece, both physical and metaphorically, for this exquisitely designed and carefully considered home.
Often the first room you enter when arriving at home, a porch needs to be functional in both design and aesthetic. We often fabricate hanging systems and shelves that utilise the space and provide storage whilst also matching the interior design brief. Sometimes, even custom surfboard racks!
A talented metalworker who left the specialty coffee industry to follow his dream of being a furniture maker, Dave grew his tiny start-up furniture brand into a thriving business, shipping pieces to homes and offices in cities all over the world. He now handles all the operations, scheduling and finance at Coast Creative, as well as overseeing all of the metalwork and engineering that has become such a striking and unique feature of our installations. We also still make and sell his beautiful furniture.
We pride ourselves on being able to turn functional engineering elements of your home into beautiful design work. This is made possible by offering a range of in-house skill sets, including metalwork fabrication, design and joinery. Get in touch to discuss all your interior ideas.
